Transparency isn’t just for my jars. It’s also the way I believe I should be with you.
Since I started this company back in 2019 (which feels like a decade ago, let’s be real), I put in many hours researching how I could bring you high quality candles at a low cost, on your end and mine. Everything was going well. I had a price I was comfortable with, the brand was growing steadily, and I learned that I made things people came back for.
Then 2020 happened.
Not just the year itself. The panoramic.
They say that pivoting is essential in keeping a business alive and I learned that lesson firsthand. Jar and lid shortages resulted in me having to find and use different suppliers (and sometimes different jar colors). I even toyed with the idea of changing up the jars entirely.
Scent shortages made me realize that as much as I love Fall, I can still make that the heart of my offerings while providing scents for other seasons. (Not a bad pivot at all. I mean, have you smelled something coastal?!)
Even though I’ve started other ventures, candle-making never left my mind. Sure, I needed a break every now and again, but this is something I’m passionate about. And I want to keep doing it for as long as I can, physically and financially.
After doing even more research and cost analysis, I saw just how much the Panasonic affected TerranMade financially. Cost increases occurred on nearly every front. As a matter of fact, the only things about my candles that haven’t gone up in price are wicks and labels (because I print the product labels myself).
I’ve looked at multiple suppliers for the materials I use. In doing so, I’ve found that I’m still getting what I always use for the best price while still maintaining the TerranMade standard that results in the scented products you and I love.
But “best price” doesn’t mean the costs haven’t gone up. And so, we pivot again.
Beginning July 1, 2021, the price for TerranMade candles will change from $15 to $18. As of right now, the pricing of the wax melts will remain the same.
I want to be able to provide you with the same quality of candles that you’re used to getting from me. I want to make sure we can still donate to organizations quarterly. Also, I want to make sure TerranMade can stay.
I was so scared when I started this company and with this new change, a lot of that fear has returned.
But sometimes, the only way out is through.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to than each and every one of you for the support you’ve shown this company. I know I say thank you a lot, but it never feels like enough. Your likes, shares, posts, referrals, reviews, and praises have never gone unnoticed.
This journey has been a wild one. Let’s keep going.
